How to use text difference checker

  2. Select Process text to produce a line-based difference.
  3. Review added, removed and unchanged lines, then copy or download the plain-text diff.

Work through an example

Use a line-based comparison to inspect revisions, understand changed-line pairs, and avoid mistaking whitespace changes for semantic judgments.

Frequently asked questions

Is comparison performed word by word?

No. The comparison is line based. A small edit within a line can appear as one removed line and one added line.

Do the colors carry all the meaning?

No. Added lines also have a plus prefix and removed lines a minus prefix, so the plain-text result retains the distinction.
