Use PDF to Excel when you need to extract text-based PDF tables into an XLSX workbook. This guide follows a concrete workflow: extract a simple invoice table. Keep your source file so you can compare the result and repeat the conversion with different settings.
Work through the example
- Upload a PDF whose table text can be selected.
- Process the file and inspect the inferred rows and columns in the preview.
- Open the XLSX workbook and verify every figure against the PDF.
Understand the output
Uses text positions to infer rows and columns. Review the table preview; merged cells, scans and complex layouts need manual correction.
PDFs describe where marks appear on a page, rather than storing a spreadsheet grid. A wide gap can suggest a new column, but a multiline label or merged heading can confuse this inference. Check decimal separators and totals against the source.
Save and share carefully
The tool link is shareable; your uploaded document is not included in that link. Download the finished file before closing the tab. Reset clears the workspace. You can save the tool to Favorites to return to the same workflow later.
