CSS minification can do more than remove indentation. The CSS Minifier loads the CSSO parser on demand and returns its compacted stylesheet. That parser can shorten values as well as remove unnecessary spacing, so inspect a generated copy rather than replacing your readable source without review.
Use CSS source as the input
Paste the stylesheet into Source code and choose Minify code. Supply CSS itself, without an enclosing HTML style element or a Markdown code fence. The operation is limited to 250,000 UTF-8 bytes. Character count and byte count can differ when comments or content values include non-ASCII text.
The result provides Input bytes, Output bytes, the generated CSS, and a minified.css download. CSSO is lazy-loaded, so the first use may need the page’s processing library to finish loading. The submitted source is processed in the browser and is not executed as a stylesheet in the tool’s interface.
Inspect a worked transformation
Use this input:
.card {
color: #ffffff;
margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
}
With the installed parser’s default minification, the output is .card{color:#fff;margin:0}. The color becomes the shorter equivalent hexadecimal form, the four zero margins become one value, units are removed from those zero values, and unnecessary punctuation spacing disappears.
This example also shows why minification is a syntax transformation rather than a simple space-removal operation. Do not expect to compare the two copies line by line. Compare the actual computed styles and page behavior instead. The reported output bytes describe the resulting text before any server or network compression.
Validate the stylesheet in context
The tool has no browser-target setting, source-map option, or surrounding project configuration. It cannot see which selectors are used on your pages, whether a declaration is intentionally duplicated, or whether a stylesheet depends on a particular build step. It also does not fetch files referenced by url() or bundle imports into one file.
Keep the original stylesheet and test the minified version with the HTML, fonts, and assets it will accompany. Check interaction states and narrow layouts as well as the initial desktop view. Parser errors should be addressed in the source rather than hidden by removing arbitrary text until the tool accepts it.
For a single declaration you are still designing, the CSS Gradient Generator offers a focused visual workflow before minification. Use the HTML Minifier for separate markup cleanup. Neither operation measures whether a page loads faster in production; that requires testing the deployed application and its actual delivery settings.
